Summary

For an unforgettable adventure in Brisbane, add the iconic Brisbane to Gold Coast ride to your bucket list! Whether you’re tackling this challenge in one day, staying overnight and riding back the next day, or taking the train from Gold Coast to Brisbane, this route offers something for everyone.

Each year, the Brisbane 2 Gold Coast (B2GC) charity ride supports cancer research, drawing riders from all over. If you miss the official event, you can still enjoy the same scenic route—just skip the first 10% where you’ll be on a bus lane.

So, is it worth it? Absolutely! Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned rider, this route provides an exhilarating experience with stunning views and great camaraderie.

Here’s what to expect: The ride kicks off in Brisbane City, heading towards Logan via the Veloway—a dedicated bikeway that’s slightly hilly but safely away from traffic.

After leaving the Veloway, you’ll be on open roads. For the best experience, plan your ride early on a weekend to avoid weekday traffic congestion.

When you reach Eagleby, turn left onto a serene road with breathtaking countryside vistas. This is where the B2GC event’s first water station is located.

Next, you’ll ride through the picturesque canefields of Norwell. This long stretch of road, bordered by tall plants, can be challenging if you encounter a headwind.

Once past Norwell, you’ll hit the Dreamworld section near Hope Island. As Dreamworld comes into view, you’ll know you’re approaching the Gold Coast. With just over 20 km left, the finish line is in sight.

The Hope Island area is a highlight with its flat, smooth roads, though it can be busy with roundabouts. Exercise caution and yield to other vehicles.

The final stretch takes you to Runaway Bay, where you’ll ride alongside the sparkling waters and marvel at the Gold Coast skyscrapers. The B2GC event concludes at Southport, but don’t miss the chance to extend your ride to Surfers Paradise for a fantastic photo op.

In summary, if you haven’t tackled this ride yet, we highly recommend it. Just choose the right time, and you’re in for an amazing experience!
