Experience one of Brisbane’s most iconic climbs, which is surprisingly more approachable than it might seem. From a distance, the towering Gateway Bridge, connecting Brisbane’s north and south sides, stands as a striking landmark.
Our route will guide you from the city, starting at Goodwill Bridge, and lead you towards Wynnum Road via Norman Park. Expect a variety of undulating roads, as shown on the elevation profile.
Explore Beneath the Bridge Before tackling the climb, you’ll have the chance to explore a picturesque segment beneath the Gateway Bridge, offering stunning views from below.
The Climb The climb itself is only 1 km long with a gradient of less than 6%, making it manageable and rewarding. The ascent from the south side is straightforward, and although the north side climb is slightly longer, it features a similar profile—perhaps even a bit gentler.
Enjoy the View Once you reach the top, take a moment to soak in the breathtaking view of the Port of Brisbane. It’s especially mesmerizing at sunrise, so don’t rush!
Return Route Head back to the city via Hamilton, using the Kingsford Smith Bikeway, then through New Farm, and finally return to your starting point.
This climb offers a perfect blend of scenic beauty and manageable challenge—an adventure you won’t want to miss!
